Silicone lines are more slippery than common rubber and therefore require greater clamping force. This page describes lined worm-drive hose clamps used on GM with silicone hoses. Silicone lines are more slippery than common rubber and therefore require greater clamping force. The lined clamps prevent the silicone from extruding through the worm slots and becoming damaged.
